Concrete is a short coming of age film by Ari Kwasner-Catsi and Renee Kypriotis, about a young man finding his way and learning to embrace both his Greek heritage and his community as one.
I worked on the film as an art assistant, set dresser and production assistant. My job involved spray / hand painting fabric, plastic and paper in bright, loud, anarchic themes for the rave scene. The dressing was cut, knotted, woven and draped over crab baskets and fishing paraphanalia, and styled to create a raver come under-the-sea scape - referencing the tropes of Greece’s connection to the sea, island life and the film’s namesake of water-on-concrete.
